You answered the call...one more time!

On August 14, 2002, we were alerted to an urgent need for food at Pleasant Hills Children Home, in central Texas.  In a matter of hours, after the email was sent, the storehouse of Heaven came to flow.  Food of every description was delivered to our little group and money came from several states and countries.  Within 4 days, we had a caravan of vehicles making the 3 hour drive to PHCH.

Subject: Urgent need.... Pleasant Hills Children's Home in central Texas has empty cupboards....

Hi Everyone,
Pleasant Hills Children's Home in central Texas has empty cupboards...

This is heart breaking... right here in Texas. As you know Treasures helps to meet the needs of needy children around the world. Well... Texas is as much a part of our world as Russia, the Republic of Georgia, India, Africa, etc.

They have four homes and a total of 39 children and 23 workers that live in the home... totaling 62. I spoke with Yajaira tonight and she shared that they had barely enough basic food for two weeks, but not any nutritious food.

They have little or no canned tuna, cereal, crackers, sugar, flour, rice, juice, milk, eggs, or cooking oil. Fresh fruit is a tremendous need, however not bananas, as they have just received "a whole bunch" from a church. In fact, any food donation will be greatly appreciated.

This is a crisis need that slipped between the cracks. We desire to stand in the gap for these children who come from broken, troubled homes. These innocent children have a great need. We will be buying the food rather than sending money, as the Lord has always directed Treasures to do. Howard, Donna, and others wishing to help, hope to drive to Pleasant Hills Children's Home this Sunday to bless the children.

We feel compelled to share this need with you. However, please pray and help only if this is what God is directing you to do. The children's needs will be met, I have every confidence. May the Lord touch your hearts according to HIS will.

Will you help us carry the load.......

"What an out pouring of love"...

Subject: We are thrilled with your tremendous response to helping the children of Pleasant Hills Children's home in Fairfield, Texas...

Hi Everyone,

The response from all of you, our Treasured Friends, is pouring in. With donated food from folks like you, and gifted money to shop for the other needed items, the end result will be a gloriously full and overflowing pantry!

I'm sure you all want to know what is happening!

Within 24 hours we received...
  • Christian Alliance in Pearland, Texas, is giving us bulk food... bags of rice, beans, pasta, some canned foods, 15 dozen eggs, and fresh vegetables.
  • $1000 with which we will have a huge shopping trip to Sam's tomorrow!
  • Many of you have called and shared that you are going grocery shopping for the children.
  • Others have shared that they are sending money.
  • 200 lbs of frozen meat
  • Cases of canned orange juice, fruit, raisins, and vegetables from Serenity Oaks in Vidor, Texas.
  • We have even received a donation from Africa! And prayers from India!
  • New underwear and socks for all the children
  • A case of shampoo and so much more....
After church Sunday, at least six people will leave with trucks loaded down with food to drive over 200 miles to the Children's home. Don't you know there will be some excited children when we arrive on Sunday! We'll get photos...

May you be blessed as you have blessed others and then some!

Many have asked who to make out their checks to and where to send them. Please make checks payable to: Treasures of the Heart Inc. Your donations are tax deductible, whether food items or monetary. Please only give if you are sure that it is what God wants you to do, as there are many excellent and worthy causes in this world.  For those who are able, we respect your gifts and will get the best value for your money. As usual, 100 % will go to meet the needs of children in need, and we will always give "first fruits"... God's best!

Subject: A Blessed Day!

Treasures wants to thank our shoppers, loaders, and drivers for all their help in getting food to Pleasant Hills.

The children will not be as blessed as we have been by all our supporters.  Help has come from all over the world for this urgent need.  A lady in Sam's ask what we were doing, Nancy explained and the lady wrote a check!  We do draw a crowd where ever we shop, be it Beaumont, Russia, or Georgia.

If you were not aware, God has shown Treasures the principle of "First Fruits".  We only give NEW gifts (except in the area of high tech equipment).  Thank you for sharing this vision.

Subject: Thank you from PHCH

Dear Stephanie, Donna, Howard and everyone else connected with Treasures of the Heart,

THANK YOU so much from the children and staff at Pleasant Hills Children's Home for your generous contribution of food, clothing and household items.  As we sorted through your donation and divided between everyone, we were overcome with a spirit of gratitude for the need being met.  The children were very happy!  Although they helped unload the items, they didn't realize that they actually had nectarines, plums, blueberries, strawberries, pineapples, oranges, pears, apples, grapefruit...until we sorted through the items after chapel.  And the snacks, canned goods, brooms and mops, underwear and socks, milk, eggs, meat and so much more!  THANK YOU!

It was a pleasure to meet Donna and Howard.  We hope that everyone enjoyed their chapel visit.  As we have many new children, for at least 1/2 of the kids present, this was only their 2nd chapel to attend.  Please pray that we are able to introduce each child here to Jesus Christ as his/her Savior.

Again, thank you so much!  I cannot adequately express our gratitude.

Yours in Christ, Martha Thomassen
