Fifty six years ago,
Shadrack was born in a remote village in the centre of India into the
"untouchable" agricultural caste . His parents were recent converts from
the lowest Hindu caste to the Christian faith. Under God’s direction this
boy grew in the Christian faith and broke free from the chains of bonded
labor. He received an education, qualified as a teacher and found that he
could lead a normal family life, free from the uncertainty of subsistence
farming.
However, he never forgot his roots or the great gift that God had given.
He left the security of teaching, joined the church full time and between
his evangelizing consignments visited and provided for the villagers of
all castes.
Two years ago he started a village crèche project. Although an officially
registered Indian Charity - its’ true status lies in the hand of God - it
is called ‘Neerekshe’ which is the local dialect for ‘Hope’.
All the Hindu villagers of
every caste were invited for medical care. As the villagers waited, Dr.
Luke provided the only medical care in the village. A Christmas Nativity
Play was performed by Shadrack's "Cow Shack" "untouchable" children.

Each "untouchable" child was
given a new blanket for Christmas. Lalitha was one of these "untouchable"
children that Shadrack and Gladys rescued from the streets. They raised
her in their home as their own child. Treasures' has been given the
blessing of providing tuition for Lalitha to attend nursing school. When
she graduates, she will return to Muranpur to be the nurse for the House
of Hope orphanage.
